Meh sums up the feelings I have as of this very instant. Did I mention the wind? Snow? Mud? Ruts in the road? Meh...
So tired of the dirt, mud, dripping shoes and constant smell of cattle in my house. The mudroom/washroom is deep with wet clothes, manure covered overalls and bits of straw. Meh...
I've lite my honeysuckle candle in my kitchen to hide the smell while I start a load of laundry - it mingles oddly with the veggie soup I've got cooking on the stove. Meh...
Gus has seen fit to drag every frozen cow pie he can find up to our front door. This morning I was greeted by the pile of frozen afterbirth he had found and brought up to the house as a trophy...nasty meh. I let Wade dispose of that one. Meh...
Meh Meh Meh Meh Meh Meh Meh!!!!!!
MEh
MEH
meh Meh MEH!! I think I need a drink, a warm destination. I think the closest thing I will get to that tonight is fuzzy blanket, and a cup of coffee after supper.
I am thankful for wool socks, snooze buttons and thick sweaters to hide a little bit of winter weight. I look forward to long walks and riding a horse sooner rather than later...
XOXOXOXO
Elizabeth!
Oh yes! The barn smell! LOL! I always say the barn smells better then the house! At least the barn has that fresh straw smell, as opposed to the house that has the rotten straw smell. Thank goodness we have 1 heifer left to go! The sleep will return and after calving cleaning. Of the house, the barn is always clean! :)
ReplyDeleteMiss Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteIt's the wind that gets me. When I checked hfrs at 5 this morning it was 19* with no wind. Yea!
I understand the smelly issues you are dealing with. On nice days I open the windows and try to let our boots dry off outside. Between the Rancher, the cow dog and me sweeping the entry is a high priority.
Hang in there and be thankful for the moisture.
But you are rewarded with so many cute little calves! Just kidding, I totally get it. I have a bad case of the "mehs" this week as well - something about Feb/March/April. Not yet warm, too much mud - I'd skip it all together if I could. Although I totally giggled out load when I read about the afterbirth part. Here soon placentas are going to dominate my life (pig ones though) so I totally get that - he just wanted to show you his cool find mom! Hang in there, it will be summer eventually. In the mean time get a beach scented candle?
ReplyDeleteYou are certainly not alone in the "meh" boat. I think I was there for a solid month this winter... maybe even two! As I write this, I am struggling to motivate myself to go to town to do laundry. Meh.
ReplyDeleteCheer up and know that this "meh" time of the year means that spring and summer are on the way. The days will get longer, you will get outside and feel alive again.
I hope that blanket and cup of coffee treated you well. They always work wonders for me.
Jessy :)
